A VILLAGE is guaranteed a white Christmas event this weekend.

A giant snow machine will ensure the village green at Sedgefield is covered in snow for a festive party tomorrow.

The event starts at 4.30pm with a snowman parade from St Edmund’s Church, arriving at the turning circle at 4.45pm.

Mayor Tim Jeanes will announce the winner of a competition to decide who switches on the Christmas lights during the event.

There will also be carol singing in St Edmunds Church, music from Ferryhill Town Band, and mulled wine and mince pies served by The Harriers.

Town councillors and PC Keith Todd will throw winning snowballs into the crowd, with Santa Claus presenting prizes, and scouts will sell soup to raise funds.
