A WIDOW has thanked medical staff who cared for her husband in the final stages of his life by raising money.
Enid White of West Cornforth raised £1,032 for the MIU chemotherapy department at the University Hospital of North Durham.
Mrs White held a series of fund raising events to collect the money in memory of her late husband Barry, who died in October 2007 after a long illness.
Representatives from the unit were presented with a cheque for the money on Sunday November 16.
Mrs White thanked staff at the unit for providing excellent care of her husband, Ronnie Ware landlord of the Balaclava Inn for hosting charity events and to other supporters including the Royal Antediluvian Order of the Buffaloes.
