ORGANISERS of the Wensleydale Show have said they are determined the event will go ahead as planned this weekend despite forecasts of heavy rain.

Show chairman, Julia Clarke, said the event on Saturday would be a great family day out with attractions including 400 sheep and 140 cattle, 15 heavy horses, carriage driving, the Mega Minis stunt team, home craft and horticulture, more than 100 trade stands, a craft tent, and music from Leyburn Band.

She said: "We are going to have tractors on standby to make certain no-one gets stuck and wellingtons are certainly advisable, but we are sure that the show will be a great day out as usual."

The show takes place at Bellerby Road, Leyburn this Saturday, August 23 from 10.00am. Entry costs £6 for adults, £3 for children aged five-sixteen, and under fives go free. There is no charge for parking.
