ALL the sporting action may be taking place in Beijing - but the Olympic flag will be flying in Northallerton this weekend.
A specially commissioned London 2012 flag will be raised at the Civic Centre to mark the handover of the games from China to the UK.
Hambleton District Council has taken up an invitation from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games to join the "flying the flag" celebrations.
The Olympic Games closes in Beijing on August 24 with the official flag handed over to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
Hambleton’s four leisure centres in Northallerton, Thirsk, Bedale and Stokesley will also be joining in the fun by offering cheap swims on Bank Holiday Monday.
Following the Olympic theme there will be special prices for public swim sessions in three leagues: gold for adults at £1; silver for juniors at 50p; and bronze for the under-5s at 2p.
