THE judging of the young hounds of the Hurworth Hunt took place at the kennels, West Rounton.
The joint acting masters of the hunt, Mr Peter Dennis and Mr Keith Ballbach, welcomed a substantial crowd of hunt supporters to this annual event. Huntsman Mr Joe Townsend put the hounds through their paces. The judges were Mr N C Stirling and Mr J Goode.
The best working dog hound was Charger, walked by Mr Brian Smith, and the best working bitch was Paradise, walked by Mr Norman Fryer. Mr Malcolm Havelock with Wildboy won the best dog and Mr Steve Trewhit with Fabric won the best bitch.
Mr Trewhitt and Fabric went on to win best overall in show.
The winner's trophy was given by Beulah Wilkinson to the Hurworth Hunt this year.
The cup was originally presented to Mr Herbert Wilkinson as winner of the Hurworth Hunt farmers' race in 1938 and had been in the family ever since.
