Biker dies after hitting kerb

A MOTORCYCLIST has died after coming off his bike last night.

The man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened in Tow Law, County Durham at about 8.50pm on Friday.

Police have not yet released the name of the man, who was trying to negotiate a right-hand turn on the A68 road near the B6299 Sunniside junction when the accident happened.

The bike hit a raised kerb at the entrance to a lay-by, sending the biker flying towards a telegraph pole.

The man received fatal leg and internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The A68 was closed for three hours following the incident.
