POLICE recovered a huge haul of drugs from a man's house after being called to a town centre pub to stop him shouting abuse at other customers.
Garvey Taylor was arrested at the William Stead in Darlington and three packets of cannabis resin were recovered from the pockets of his jacket.
A search of his house in nearby Middleton-St-George revealed almost 400 grammes of the dug hidden in various places throughout the property.
Taylor initially denied knowing where the blocks had come from, but later confessed to dealing to friends when confronted with damning evidence.
Paul Newcombe, prosecuting, told Teesside Crown Court that police found a series of text messages on his mobile phone which were requests for drugs.
Garvey, 36, of Killinghall Road, Middleton-St-George, admitted possessing Class C drugs with intent to supply on January 24 this year.
James Kemp, mitigating, said Garvey was a heavy user who used money he made from the sales of cannabis to fund his own habit.
"He is now very remorseful and this appears to have been something of a jolt to him, to find himself in a very serious position," said Mr Kemp.
"He is not someone who deals to strangers by standing on street corners . . . he supplies to friends for social use."
Garvey was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, by Teesside Crown Court judge, Recorder Julian Goss, QC.
The judge also ordered that 213 found on Garvey when he was arrested should be handed over to police to help the fight against drugs.
