A large-scale cannabis farm has been found in an empty premises in County Durham, as police make one arrest in connection with the incident.
More than 500 plants were discovered by Chester-le-Street Neighbourhood Police Team who executed a magistrates’ search warrant earlier this week, following information received from members of the community.
The cannabis farm was located at a home on Front Street, Chester-le-Street, with officers from Durham Police arresting a 37-year-old man and subsequently charged him with the production of cannabis.
He has since appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court and has remained in custody until he appears at Durham Crown Court on Friday, May 24.
The farm has been dismantled and plants destroyed, according to the police force.
