TWO adults and a baby boy were taken to hospital last night after their car hit a tree on the A167 between Pity Me and Plawsworth.

The man was thrown from the wreckage suffering severe arm injuries whilst a woman in the car suffered head injuries.

The baby sustained no apparent injuries, being protected by his car seat and was checked at the scene by paramedics.

All three were taken to the University Hospital of North Durham. The accident happened at 8pm.
