Two charged with murder
POLICE tonight charged two men with the murder of 19-year-old Ross Davidson.
Steven Gilbert, 22, of St Anthonys Road, Newcastle, and Graeme Duncan, also 22, of Norbury Road, Newcastle, will appear at Newcastle Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
A third man remains in custody and is continuing to help police with their inquiries.
Mr Davidson died after being attacked at his home in Grace Street, Byker, Newcastle, on Sunday night.
Today, his mother Lynne Davidson paid tribute to her "perfect son".
Lynne said: "Ross had so many friends and no enemies.
"Ross was always a peacemaker, never a troublemaker. He was the kind of person who would split up fights rather than get involved.
"Everyone loved him, I am overwhelmed by the number of people who loved him and they are helping me through this.
"I have had my heart ripped out.
"If it wasn't for his friends and family helping me through this I don't know what I would do.
"I wish it had been me and not Ross. I can't understand why this has happened."
Ross had been a pupil at Walker Technology College in Newcastle and left at the age of 16 with ten GCSEs - many of them A grades.
He then joined Gun Point, a building firm in Northumberland, and would travel the North-East pointing walls.
Lynne added: "Ross had everything to live for. He was staying in lodgings in Grace Street so he could save up enough money to rent a place himself.
"Ross had his whole life ahead of him."
