A TEENAGER will appear in court tomorrow morning charged with murdering his brother.

Daniel West, 18, will appear in Hartlepool Magistrates Court accused of stabbing his elder brother, William, to death with a knife.

Cleveland Police launched a murder inquiry in the early hours of Monday after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed.

When they arrived at Helmsley Street, Hartlepool, at about 1.30am, they found 20-year-old William inside the terraced house where he lived.

He was pronounced dead soon afterwards, and his brother was arrested for questioning.

It is believed their mother returned to the family home afterwards.

Daniel spent 36 hours at Hartlepool Police station, where he was grilled by detectives, before being charged with William's murder on Tuesday afternoon.

A postmortem examination has been carried out, the results of which have not been released, and forensic scientists were at the property on Monday, combing it for clues as to what happened.
