A MAN sobbed when he appeared in court today charged with the murder of his partner.
Father-of-five Bryan Monaghan, 54, is accused of killing Nicola Bisset, 52, at her home in the picturesque village of Appleby, Cumbria.
Ms Bisset died from a single stab wound in the neck.
Her two teenage children, from a previous relationship, were away at the time of the killing.
Her body was found by police at lunchtime on Saturday.
Monaghan, from Seamore Street, in Largs, Ayrshire, was arrested on Saturday night.
The former oilrig worker, who is partially sighted, sobbed in the dock during his appearance at Penrith Magistrates Court.
An application for bail was refused and he was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on November 12.
