A MAN found stabbed to death in his flat has been named.
The man was found in the flat, on Northumbria Walk, in West Denton, Newcastle, on Thursday evening.
Although the man has not been formally identified police believe it was Ian Fullerton, 55, who lived alone at the address.
Northumbria Police believe Mr Fullerton may have lain dead for several days before neighbours raised the alarm.
When officers arrived, they found no sign of forced entry to the flat and concluded Mr Fullerton died of multiple stab wounds.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned at Etal Lane police station.
Det Chief Insp Paul Young said: "We need to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around the flat in the last 10 days."
Anyone with information is asked to call Northumbria Police on 08456-043-043 and ask for the incident room at Etal Lane police station.
