Durham's West Indian all-rounder Ottis Gibson was tonight named as the Professional Cricketers Association player of the year.

The award is voted for by fellow county professional players and has been won in recent years by Andrew Flintoff and Michael Vaughan.

Gibson, 38, helped Durham to runners up spot in the LV County Championship and two one-day titles - the Friends Provident Trophy and NatWest Pro40 Division Two.
