A MAN is complaining because no-one from the NHS has come out to cut his toenails.

John Simpson, 60, of York, who said he was a "bit stiff", fumed: "It is a ridiculous situation and it needs addressing.

"I'm only 60, but I'm a bit stiff and rigid and I find it very difficult to cut my own toenails.

"If I do them myself I often make them bleed and I don't feel happy about cutting my nails safely.

"I've also got corns on my feet and I need an assessment by a chiropodist, but my GP told me there's a waiting list of between four and six months. It's unacceptable."

Age Concern York's chief officer, Sally Hutchinson, said the branch was looking for funding to set up a toenail cutting service in York.

A North Yorkshire and York PCT spokesman said there were no waiting time standards in place for chiropody patients because each patient referral was assessed on an individual basis.
