A MAN who died after falling 60ft from the top of High Force waterfall, in Teesdale, has been named as 30-year-old Daniel Davies.
Mr Davies, known as Dan by his friends, lived with his partner Karen Fegan in Lampton Terrace in Jarrow, South Tyneside.
The couple had visited the waterfall, the most powerful in England, to collect rocks for their new tropical fish tank.
Police believe Mr Davies was reaching to pick up a stone when he lost his balance and slipped over the edge of the waterfall, near Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham.
Mr Davies had worked at the Nissan factory in Sunderland since March.
On Sunday evening more than 30 rescuers spent hours searching for the man before finding his body at the foot of the falls at 10.15am on Monday.
